Solution :

Take L.C.M of 40,60 =120 = Total work

Efficiency of P and Q = 120/60 =2

Efficiency of P,Q and R = 120/40=3

P+Q = 2

P+Q+R =3

==> R Efficiency = 1

Half of the work =120/2=60

R will finish = 60/1 = 60 days

How many numbers between 300 and 800 can be made by using digits 2,4,5,6 and 0 ?

Solution :

Required Numbers = 3* 4p2 = 3*12= 36

Ques 6.

A shopkeeper bought a Bike at 40% discount on its original price. He sold it at a price 50% higher than in the original price. What percentage profit did he make ?

Solution :

Assume Original price =100

After 40% discount =60

If he sold 50% higher than original price = 150

Profit =150-60=90

Profit percentage = 90*100/60 =150%

Ques 7.

A is thrice as good a workman as B and together they finish a piece of work in 21/4 days . In how many days will B alone finish same work ?

Solution :

Assume A efficiency =3

B efficiency =1

Work = efficiency * days

==> 21/4 * (3+1)=21 

B will finish work = work/efficiency = 21/1 =21 days

Ques 8.

A principal at simple interest of 8% per annum amounts to Rs 24,056 after 3 years. What was the original principal ?

Solution :

Assume Principal = 100%

Amount = 100% + (8*3)=124%

124% ---- 24,056

100% ----  ?

Principal = (24,056*100)/124 = 19,400

Ques 9.

A,B and C started business investing 19,200 ; 12,800 and 22,400 respectively .Out of a total profit of 51,408 . What is A's share ?

Solution :

Ratio of A , B and C = 19200 : 12,800 : 22,400

==> 6:4:7

A's share = (6*51,408)/17 = 18,144

Ques 10.

Present ages of Fatima and her mother are in the ratio of 2:3 respectively. Five years ago the ratio of their ages was 9:14 respectively . What will Fatima's age 6 years from now ?

Solution :

Ratio = 2:3

5 years ago ratio = 9:14

Present ratio = 2:3 * 5 ( here 5 is difference between 14 and 9) = 10:15

5 years ago ratio = 9:14*1(here 1 is difference between 2 and 3) = 9: 14

Fatima age difference ratio = 10-9=1 units

1 unit = 5 years 

10 units= 50 years

After 6 years Fatima age =50+6=56 years
